Maoists take away 150 students

Posted by ohnepal on June 6, 2006

A generation is being blinded and wasted. And all we can do is sit down and see our country's young guns being given guns in hand instead of books. You can shout of Democracy sitting from the comforts of your home and support SPAM and it's way of dictatorial corrupt democracy…but you can't take away the blame that you and us are collectively response for the failure. You and us are collectively responsible for this lost generation. Long live the feudal democracy of SPAM, for you!

Kantipur brings more bad news:

Maoists take away 150 students

Kantipur Report

KATHMANDU, June 7 – Maoists forcibly took away 150 students from schools in Rame-chhaap to make them participate in rebel programs recently.

According to locals of Bhatauli, Pakarbas, Pinkhuri and Gagal villages, their wards were herded to the district headquarters Charikot, to attend a Maoist mass meeting scheduled for Tuesday. Earlier also, the Maoists had forcibly taken the same students for participation in their program in Kathmandu on Friday without the consent of parents.

"As soon as the students arrived from Kathmandu and began attending school, they were again taken away from the school itself," said a local.

Meanwhile, CPN-UML Dhanusha district, issuing a statement, accused the Maoists of violating the agreement with the political parties and the code of conduct.

"Extortion, torture and coercion are still rampant in the villages," said the release signed by CPN-UML district secretary, Yognarayan Yadav. In a recent case, the rebels asked Rs 25,000 from a potter Ram Ekbal Mandal of Hadbanda and beat him and his workers when he refused to pay. In Bardiya, Maoists freed seven persons from Maina-pokhari whom they had abducted three months ago on charges of working for security forces. However, Rambabu Regmi of Kalika, abducted along with the seven, is yet to be released.
